The high school’s fall sports teams have individually purchased new team gear and warm-ups. To sports teams, team gear can be a way to unify the teams’ appearances at meets and games. Teams such as girls varsity soccer and girls varsity field hockey had many options, from sweatpants to T-shirts and jackets. Other teams, such as boys varsity football, boys junior varsity football, girls freshman, junior varsity and varsity volleyball and girls varsity cross country, had a single piece of apparel that every member decided upon. Most of these teams received their gear later in the season, but many were still able to sport their apparel before the season ended.
Girls Varsity Soccer: “Every year we get apparel from soccer, but this year was better because we got to pick which ones we wanted. There was a variety we got the choose from,” junior Abigail Risse said about girls varsity soccer new line up of apparel. This year, they were able to choose between shoes, and multiple different shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets.
Girls Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman Volleyball: The team came together and bought T-shirts for each team to show their school spirit, the varsity and junior-varsity teams were also equipped with new Libero jerseys.
Girls Varsity Cross Country: According to junior Rae Swardstrom, after years of raising money, the team was finally able to get new warmups, which she describes as “comfortable and fun.”
Girls Varsity Field Hockey: According to junior Katie Bridge, the team splurged on an assortment of equipment for the season. They normally show up to games wearing rugby shirts and sporting sweatpants. Bridge said they started this process mid season, and unlike most teams acted on the need for gear and got it done.
Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving: The team sported their new gear to school on the day of the senior meet.
“I think we look great and unified as a team when we all wear it,” senior Myra Johnson said. The sweatshirts include the different swimming strokes and dives.
“It’s a way to educate people about what we do,” senior Marina Szende said.
Boys Varsity and Junior Varsity Football:
The varsity and junior varsity football teams collectively designed and ordered new sweatshirts.
“We all got to customize them with our own numbers,” sophomore Peter Hopkins said. Hopkins described the gear as comfortable, soft and warm.
