The boys varsity volleyball team played their third match of the season Monday in an exciting game that ended in a 3-0 loss against Newton North.
The match started at four in the Tappan gymnasium, with both teams eager to add a rivalry win to their record.
The Tigers won the first few points in the first set, but senior Parsa Dayani was soon able to score a point to end the drought by dinking it over the net.
A block by the Tigers earned them a 16 point lead over Brookline, bringing the first set to 20-4. North soon won the first set 25-7.
Most of the points scored by Brookline were from North’s unforced errors of hitting the ball into the net or out of bounds. North scored points from Brookline’s mistakes due to miscommunication or hitting it into the net.
Brookline was able to start off the second set strong, winning the first two points of the set.
The largest Brookline lead was 10-5 at the start of the second set. The Tigers won many of their points due to strong slams, but many bad serves continued to keep the door open for the Warriors.

When the game started again, the Tigers went on a 3-1 run, bringing the score to 21-20. Brookline managed to tie the game at 22. However, North ended up winning the second set 25-22.
