A vandal entered the Unified Arts Building May 2 or 3 and wrote the words “punks is” on a classroom floor, according to Assistant Headmaster Hal Mason.
The paint was found Monday morning, May 4, and the deans, the headmaster and the police were notified.
The police arrived to take photographs and investigate, but determined the damage was not severe.
“They’re not going to do a big crime scene,” Mason said. “If they had written something really offensive then it might’ve become more of an investigation. If they had done something more damaging then it could’ve been a much more serious matter.
“They wrote the words ‘punks is’ and then they didn’t finish whatever they were going to say after that,” Mason said. “We assumed it was younger children.”
Mason, citing the UA Building’s alarm system, said he was surprised that an individual was able to enter the building undetected during the weekend.
He said it is possible that the individual entered during some sort of class when the building would have been unlocked.
Mason said no one has been found responsible for the vandalism.
