We welcome Richard Mount’s response to our April article, “Ambiguity shrouds departure of former girls’ tennis coach.” The goal of the article was to understand and communicate the events leading up to and ultimately causing Mr. Mounts departure from the tennis team after a lengthy and successful career.
It disappoints us that Mount feels the “claims in the article were inaccurate, unfounded and just plain untrue!”
All assertions in the article were corroborated by multiple sources. Any assertions that we could not corroborate with multiple sources or we had doubts about were omitted from the article.
As journalists, our responsibility is to cover all sides of a story fairly and accurately. We believe we succeeded in representing the nuances of an incredibly complicated and sensitive situation.
