Johnny Depp, Dakota Johnson, Jesse Plemons, and other actors, actresses and celebrities visited Brookline today to attend a private screening of their movie “Black Mass” at the Coolidge Corner Theatre. “Black Mass,” directed by Scott Cooper, is a biopic about notorious South Boston mobster Whitey Bulger, according to imdb.com. Depp plays Bulger and actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who was not present at the red carpet event, plays his brother, Senator Billy Bulger. Johnson plays Lindsey Cyr, Bulger’s girlfriend, and Plemons plays Kevin Weeks, a friend of Bulger’s.In order to accommodate the event, which took place between 4 and 9 p.m., part of Harvard Street in front of the theatre was closed and other parking restrictions were imposed nearby. Brookline Police said in a Facebook post Friday that they hoped the inconveniences of the “major Hollywood event” would be outweighed by the spotlight on the community.
