If you want to have a debate with anyone, especially about technology, this is usually a pretty good one to start with. Do you like Macs or PCs better and why? If the person says Linux, then you are truly talking to a nerd. However, most of the people you talk to will probably give their opinion on the Mac vs. PC debate and may not even know what Linux is.
If the person likes PCs, this is what they are likely to say about Macs and believe me I’ve heard the same argument too many times.
“Macs are too expensive and they aren’t even that good!”
“The specs (meaning RAM, processor, etc) stink on Macs!”
At this point, you will either nod your head in agreement or eagerly await your opportunity for rebuttal. Why did I spend so much money for a Mac when you can purchase a much cheaper PC with the same specs?
Apple is one of those companies, like “Beats by Dr. Dre” headphones, that have a “premium” tax. The brand name costs a little more than what the product should cost. This stinks, but it’s a fact.
There must be a reason why so many people have Apple computers, right? Of course there is. It’s pretty simple. The user experience on a Mac is simply much better than on a PC.
While some computers may have better specs and should be better and faster in technicality, this is not always the case. Unlike Macs, two companies build PCs. Microsoft creates the Windows software for the computer and then another company, such as a Dell or HP, creates the hardware that runs the software.
Apple, the tightly run ship, controls the entire user experience. The Apple computer you see is made entirely by Apple. The hardware is designed to the exact specifications that the company wants and they create Mac OS so it runs perfectly on the hardware. This is the main reason why Apple computers are so expensive. Apple controls everything about their product in an attempt to create the best user experience possible.
Gamers: Mac computers are probably not for you. There are so many really awesome gaming PC’s out there and those are perfect for what they do. However, Mac is starting to catch up. With the Mac App Store, games like Call of Duty are arriving. Additionally, Steam has been made available. Breathe easy, you can move your zombie killing onto a Mac.
They aren’t for everyone, but if you give it a chance, Mac might be able to change your mind.
