On Saturday, Dec. 5, the BHS Latin Club won third place at the Granite State Certamen in Dover, Massachusetts. After finishing the preliminary round in second place, the upper level team, made up of seniors Hank Gilbert, Arthur Chen, Edward Cipullo, Nathan Kyn and Justin Wong, earned enough points to enter the final round of competition. The competition was New England-wide, and the upper-level team had to face off against elite private schools Phillips Exeter Academy and St. Paul’s School. One of the intermediate teams placed seventh as well. Students were asked to answer questions about Latin language, vocabulary, and grammar, as well as ancient Roman mythology, culture and history.
