Town hall protest in support of Brookline police officers
January 13, 2016
Brookline residents came to Town Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 12th to protest in support of police officers Prentice Pilot and Estifanos Zerai-Misgun. Protestors demanded that the officers be given paid administrative leave during the investigation into their file for racial discrimination in the Brookline police department. Watch the video for further information on the protest and an update on the officers’ investigation.

Chair Neil Wishinsky says the Officers haven’t said what makes them feel unsafe. That is either a second lie by Mr. Wishinsky, or a gross oversight. Is it possible the Chair of the Selectmen hasn’t viewed the videotape made on Dec.16th 2015 of the Officers appearing before the Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Relations Commission and asking for help? That video is widely available.
Officer Pilot states clearly that the Sargent who used the racial slur has 4 or 5 family members who are also Brookline Police, and about 40 friends on the force. He fears retaliation. He says to the Commission, “I work with people with guns, you understand.” The fact that an Officer loved by so many in our community, with 18 years of service to Brookline, feels this alienated and this vulnerable, speaks volumes about what it is to be a person of color in Brookline.
Thank you, Sagamore, for the best reporting, anywhere, I’ve seen on this issue.
