Testostatones is a group where male students get together every Thursday and Sunday and make music. There’s a lot that goes into an a cappella group such as concert dates, auditions and getting music arranged.
At times it takes only one person to deal with these arrangements, preferably the leader, but people are encouraged to step up to the plate to share the leadership responsibilities. It’s a really fun group and I am proud to say that for a few years I was a part of it. Not only do you create and perform music, but it’s an opportunity to meet new people and learn from others.
For me, Testostatones has helped me work on improving my skills as a musician and it has also helped motivate me to work towards any goals that I set for myself. If I’m being completely honest, we have our fallouts here and there. In those cases, it’s up to the members, mainly veterans of the group, to bring everyone together and sort it out.
No matter how good we may sound, it doesn’t matter if the chemistry between us is poor. What makes being a part of this group so rewarding is the audience.
Having an audience who loves to hear us and goes to all of our concerts is one of the greatest things. We love to sing for them and we even love to make them laugh. It feels good to walk around school and have people walk up to me saying how much they love Testostatones or that we should perform one of their favorite songs.
Their support is highly appreciated. I love those guys and it’ll be hard to leave them this year, but I want to leave them letting everyone know how much of an amazing impact it made on me and what it can make on others.
