What is your goal for this upcoming season?

To get .450 or above, a couple of home runs, making the Bay State Conference team and the All-Scholastic team. Shoot for the moon and you’ll reach the stars.

When and how did you start playing baseball?

I started when I was really, really young, maybe three or four. My dad gave me a black baseball bat for my birthday, and I really learned to love the sport.

What is one challenge you have to overcome in baseball?

Baseball is a super mental game. If you’re in a slump or anything, it’s really hard to overcome that, and it’s important to have a superstar mentality. Now, I go to my hitting coach, who is based in Medford. It’s a comfort thing for me, knowing that there’s something to fall back on if I’m in a slump or not doing as well as I want to. I go to my baseball coach and talk to him about what I can do to improve before and during the game, and he’ll fix my swing and help me out in ways like that. He’s basically my therapist for baseball.

What do you do in your offseason?

Tuesdays and Saturdays, I have personal training workout for two hours in Waltham, which is Champions Physical Therapy and Athletic Performance. To add onto that, I have batting practice with the coach in Medford three times a week, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. And then I get massages for therapy and stuff like that.

What is the highlight from your baseball career?

I’d have to say making USA Team New England, which is this huge process and three tryouts to get past. Also, this past summer getting scouted by the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Diego Padres, major league baseball teams, that was a really cool experience. It was really great to talk with the scouts there. They made me feel welcome and very warm, whereas in the past people had pushed me away for my size. It seemed like they saw something in me, and hopefully I can keep pursuing my dreams.

What is your ultimate goal with baseball?

First, education. Graduating college, but also playing the sport I love. Hopefully getting drafted to the major leagues, probably not getting to the major leagues but hopefully getting to the A or AA. That’d be really cool.
