Layne Millington
What got you into teaching?
I had a Biology teacher in high school who was really good and when I began to think about what I wanted to do after college, he came into my head. He had a very good sense of humor. I wasn’t too interested in high school at the time, but he got me interested.
What were some of the interesting things you did this summer?
Most of it was spent around the house. I have a motorcycle, so on weekends I would drive up to Vermont and New Hampshire. I’ve had a motorcycle since I was around 8. I grew up in Maryland so we had little races. When I got to Boston, I was too scared to ride around in the traffic so I stopped riding around, but I started up again two or three years ago.
Do you like Brookline?
Pretty much. It’s a lot more stress than I expected. I’ve been living here for 20 years but it still stresses me out a little bit. So I’ve lived in Maryland, Vermont, when I got out of school I lived in Colorado. Colorado was a blast, very relaxed.
