Why did you become a librarian?
I was working in Brooklyn and I was a Special Education teacher. I saw what an amazing job the public libraries in Brooklyn were doing to serve the community. I would visit the libraries a lot with my students and work with them, and to me, it seemed like the place to be. I like that I can work with all of the students; every grade, every subject, every program, and I get to meet everybody.
Why did you choose to come teach to BHS?
I’m just so impressed with how much Brookline High School has to offer the students. And I am so impressed with the students. When I got to work with some of the librarians here, I met the teachers, and I just really wanted to be a part of this team.
What are first impressions of BHS?
Before I started here I never realized how many different programs there were, and how they really serve the interests of the students. I never knew how much fun it was to meet so many different kids with so many different interests and personalities. Overall, I’m so impressed with everybody.
What were you most nervous about starting at BHS? And how has that worked out?
After seeing what the teachers here do and knowing how great the librarians are, living up to that is what I’m most nervous about. Everyone’s been so supportive and I’ve gotten a lot of help. I’m excited for all the things I’m going to do in the future.
If you could give one message to all of the students at BHS what would it be?
That this is our library and it is a resource that belongs to the entire school. This is your place, it’s your second home on campus. I want to really stress that this isn’t my library. It’s ours, and I’m here to help.
