The boys varsity baseball pulled out a thrilling 6-5 victory against the Boston Latin Wolfpack on a cold and cloudy Marathon Monday.

Junior Chhany Minton started off the game with a home run within the first five minutes, giving the Warriors a 1-0 lead.

The Wolfpack tied up the game early in the second inning, evening the score at 1-1.

Minton made an impressive diving catch in right-center field in the 2nd inning, inciting loud cheers and claps from the stands.

The Wolfpack loaded the bases in the 5th inning and proceeded to pull ahead 5-1.

Later in the inning, a double from junior Deven Yee and a single from senior captain Jack Levine tied the game at 5-5.

Levine was the relief pitcher in the last four innings, allowing only one hit.

At the end of the seven innings, an extra was added to break the tie. Alex Xu started off the inning with a single, and David Krane got a hit and stole second. The Warriors proceeded to load the bases. Yee hit a ground ball to the third baseman, who made a throw home. Krane managed to beat the throw, making it home for the win.

The Warriors win improved their record to 5-1.

“I’m proud of how we responded to being down 5-1,” Levine said. “In baseball, you have to have a short memory. We didn’t let the past inning bother us. We came back and took control of the game.”
