Restaurant of the Month: Harry’s All American Breakfast
April 19, 2017
Harry’s All-American Breakfast, nestled in a quaint Roslindale strip mall, gives the true All-American feel. For such a charming and simple location, Harry’s is a happening restaurant for breakfast and lunch, especially on weekends.
We arrived, and there was a brief wait before we were seated at a modest, yet lovable wooden table for three. Shortly after being seated, we were greeted by a friendly server who handed us inviting laminated menus and asked us for our drink orders. We asked for a Chai tea, an apple juice and an orange juice.
Reviewing the menu, it was hard to decide what to order. There were simply so many choices, as the options ranged from omelets to salads. We wanted one of everything! Finally, we set our sights on five dishes: the Mushroom, Onion and Cheese Omelette ($8.25), the Veggie Omelette with tomato, onion, broccoli, spinach, green pepper and mushroom ($8.25), the Buttermilk Pancakes ($6.00), the Blueberry Pancakes ($7.25) and a Cheeseburger ($7.25).
Our food was served promptly, on generous plates. The portions were tremendous, allowing us to take much of both orders of pancakes home as leftovers. Both omelettes, described as “fluffy with just the right amount of cheese,” looked absolutely scrumptious and tasted just so. The pancakes were a delight, doughy with a slight hint of salt. Finally, the cheeseburger was juicy and cooked perfectly to medium, as we had ordered. The fries were contrastingly crunchy and steamy, helping to top off the dish.
We couldn’t have asked for better dishes, and though we had leftovers, we wished we had ordered more.
Our bill came to $43, which was about $15 per person. The experience was completely worth the price due to the generous portions (including leftovers), homey ambiance and stupendous service. Harry’s gets 4 stars from us.
