Wasted time adds up
By Jackie Merrill
For a week, I tracked my procrastination. Every time I picked up my phone, checked out a YouTube video, watched a TV episode online or visited Facebook, I recorded how much time I spent doing it. In only one week, I spent more than 19 hours putting off my work. Terrifying, isn’t it?
However, wasting time is easily avoidable. If I had simply turned off my phone while doing homework, I would have saved 400 minutes. The truth of the matter is, my laptop and my phone eat up an incredible amount of my time.
Instead of putting myself in a distraction-free environment, I welcome to avoid acknowledging the pile of homework in front of me. I spend 10 percent of every week procrastinating, time that I could spend studying, hanging out with friends or, most preferably, sleeping. (What about teachers?
