Ellen Kaplovitz will serve as Interim Coordinator of the Guidance Department for the remainder of the year, according Interim Headmaster John Ritchie. Kaplovitz, who was School Within a School’s coordinator while Ritchie taught at BHS, will fill the position left vacant after Jackie Browne’s retirement in December.
“It will be wonderful to have her here,” said Ritchie in an email message to the faculty. “I know that the guidance department will benefit from her presence, wisdom and insight, as will the entire school.”
According to Ritchie, the search for a permanent, full-time coordinator of the guidance department will begin in early spring. Having an interim coordinator will allow the school “to be more deliberate and thoughtful” about the process of hiring a replacement for Browne, said Ritchie
