The Mock Trial Team lost its second competition of the year against the Cambridge Community Charter School at the Brookline District Court on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 1:30 p.m. The Brookline team, consisting of Celine Chin, Brandi Currelley, Tanisha Deleon, Doris Dias, Sara Diskant, Kate Finnerty, Courtney Glass, Josiane Ishimwe and Greg Williams, played the plaintiff. Prior to this loss, the team won its first competition against the former three-time state champion, Boston English High School on Thursday, Jan. 26.
Arts:
This year’s musical, “The Drowsy Chaperone,” will be performed from Wednesday, Feb. 8 through Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012. Directed by BHS alumnus Ezra Flam, “The Drowsy Chaperone” takes audience members back to the 1920s. The production is centered around a young man who walks the audience through one of his favorite shows. The opening performance on Wednesday is at 3:30 p.m., and all other performances are at 7:30 p.m. in the Roberts-Dubbs Auditorium. Admission is $7 for students and $10 for adults. Sports:
On Friday, Feb. 17, members of the Brookline Police Department will go head-to-head in a game of basketball against students at 6 p.m. in the Schluntz gymnasium. At 7 p.m. members of the Brookline Fire Department will play faculty members. The event is a fundraiser to benefit the victims of the fire that ravaged an apartment building at 1471 Beacon St. on Jan. 16, 2012. Admission is $5 for students and $10 for adults. Additionally, a raffle for Red Sox tickets and an auction will be held.
