Deborah Holman, vice-principal of Newton North High School, has been named headmaster of the high school.
Superintendent Bill Lupini sent the following email to Brookline families:
Dear Brookline High School Families,I am very pleased to announce that Deborah Holman will become Headmaster of Brookline High School, effective on July 1, 2012, pending final resolution of a contract (which should be completed early next week). Our new Headmaster has served as Vice Principal at Newton North High School since 2008 and recently was the Acting Principal (November, 2011) during the Principal’s leave. In her present role, Ms. Holman has worked with others to address achievement gaps, particularly through the Legacy Scholars Program for African American students and in identifying strategies for students with special needs.
Deborah has been a Social Studies teacher at Newton North since 1996, and has also served as an Instructor in the Newton Teacher Residency Program and as the Project Coordinator for the school’s Small Learning Communities Grant (2003-2006). She has also taught in the Social Studies Department at the International School Bangkok in Thailand (2006-2007) and in the Humanities Department at the International School of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia (1991-1994). Her colleagues report that she is a “creative and collaborative leader who is committed to creating professional learning communities” at Newton North. Ms. Holman holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Studio Art from Wellesley College and a Master of Arts in History from Boston College.
Deborah is looking forward to working with the Brookline High School community of staff, students and parents and she is thrilled to be coming to Brookline! While it is very important to remember that she will continue to serve in her important role at Newton North through the end of June, Deborah and I will be working with John Ritchie to create an appropriate transition plan that will allow her to utilize the next few months to ensure a great start when she formally joins us in July.
I appreciate the assistance that we have received from staff, students, parents, community members and system administrators during this important search process. Specifically, my thanks to members of the search process design team (including Julia Gittleman, who designed our surveys), our interview teams, and the group that visited Newton North yesterday.
In addition, thanks to those of you who attended parent or staff forums, as well as those who participated in the finalist visits to Brookline High School. Finally, thanks to John Ritchie for his numerous contributions to all phases of this search process, including his willingness to talk about BHS with potential candidates during the early phases of the search and (most specifically) his tremendous assistance with the finalist phase.
I look forward to continuing our work together during Deb’s s transition to Brookline High School.

The advent from the internet has dramatically changed
the way in which bets are placed on football or soccer. A further way to get far better lines with on-line sports activities betting is diminished juice.
