Hi, I’m the person whose name is always mispronounced in class, Anastasiya. I’m always taller than you think I am, Alejandro. And I’m the poster child for stress-induced eye bag cream, Andi. And welcome to “A Guide to ‘UNHhhh’” because it’s our newspaper and not yours.

Drag artists are known to be some of the best performers, from dance and lip-synching to acting and comedy. No one would expect an internet show to be the best place for these personalities of many talents to shine. However, Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova have become some of the most famous drag queens because of their sucessfull online show “UNHhhh.”

Starting in 2016, fans of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” requested a show of just the two after seeing their appearances on season seven. Since then, “UNHhhh” has skyrocketed in fame and popularity. However, with so many episodes across so many different topics, it can be intimidating to know where to start.

Who are Trixie and Katya?
Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova are drag queens. The best way to describe Trixie would be a cubist barbie doll with the color saturation turned up to 120 percent. Katya describes herself as a Russian mistress with eccentric, and sometimes occult tastes. The two met on season 7 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” where they became best friends and have since proven to be quite the comedic duo.

What is “UNHhhh”?
The name of the show is an onomatopoeia, remember that from English class? The name is meant to describe a sound made by Trixie and Katya, chosen to encapsulate the chaos and comedy of the show. The two queens make the sound simultaneously to signify the beginning of each episode.

The idea of the show is simple: Trixie and Katya sit in front of a greenscreen while having a discussion about a designated topic. These subjects range from getting old to texting etiquette and they are spiced up by the queens’ edgy humor along with over-the-top editing. The episodes can be found on YouTube, usually running from 10 to 15 minutes. Trixie and Katya take one subject and use their sharp wit and close friendship to expand into hilarious anecdotes and inside jokes formed on camera. Through their bright personalities and brilliant comedy, the show has covered more than 165 topics over the span of six seasons.

Once you get more acquainted with the show, there are some inside jokes that will make a lot more sense. For instance, Trixie’s bird laugh, Katya’s “Contact” obsession, Katya constantly being cut off by Trixie’s quick mouth and the same three stories that get recycled over and over in every couple of episodes.
