Snowport brings holiday festivity to Seaport
Beautiful lights surrounded the scene as the rich scent of hot chocolate filled the air. Holiday music and friendly chatter circulated the adorably unique shops as people packed together for warmth while scuffling around Boston’s charming Snowport.
Boston’s Holiday Market at Snowport opened in early November and ran through the end of 2022. Open seven days a week, the market provided a variety of small shops, each with something different to offer. Food, beverages, an ice rink and a “Winter Wishing Wall” were all vital parts of Snowport’s charm.
Customer Ariana Lefebvre enjoyed the variety of experiences that Snowport has to offer. After her first year in attendance, she had decided to make visiting Snowport a yearly tradition.
“I like walking around seeing all the vendors, getting hot chocolate, eating snacks and getting a drink. It’s a nice little activity, getting fresh air,” Lefebvre said.
Snowport strived for inclusivity by providing booths that were owned by various communities such as the Indigenous community, the Latinx community, the LGBTQ+ community and others.
African Authentics made their first appearance at Snowport in December. They specialized in bringing delightful beaded animals and intricate stone sculptures from Zimbabwe.
Owner Rosemary Chimbganda was excited to showcase her talent in Boston and enjoyed the community of the market.
“I like the people, and I like the vibe. Everybody is kind of jovial, it’s like a meeting place for a lot of people from different parts of this city,” Chimbganda said.
Shelby Nassar, one of Lost Life on Wax’s vendors, sold vinyl records with photos on them that doubled as wall art. The photographer is a DIY musician and enjoys capturing pictures of other unique artists who are out there performing live.
Nassar described the thrill of being at Snowport and explained the attraction of walking around the market.
“Snowport is an awesome market. It’s really well-organized and they always have fun stuff, lots of food and it’s a really good vibe,” Nassar said.
Customer Nancy Braman said Snowport is a noteworthy experience that brings the community together, especially after a tough time apart throughout the pandemic.
“No better place to experience holiday cheer than the Snowport in Boston,” Braman said.
