The school celebrated Lunar New Year Friday, Jan. 31 with performances in the atrium during C-block and a crowded array of tables with games and other cultural activities in the MLK Room throughout the day.
The festive day, which was sponsored by the Asian-Pacific American and Chinese Cultural clubs, was originally scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28, but was postponed due to midyear exams, according to junior Gavin Hui.
The C-block performances included dancing, double dutch and Tae Kwon Do.
Chinese teacher Lihua Zhang-Shorter said the goal of the school’s celebration has evolved over the years.
“It’s about celebrating Asian culture. But it’s more about celebrating the culture Brookline represents, which is all around the world,” she said. “The message is, ‘We share the world.’”
