An op-ed is a piece of journalistic writing meant to reflect one’s opinion on a topic that they have the relevant experience to write about. An op-ed must be an opinion, not a complaint, and must be supported by accurate information. Remember: the Sagamore loves hot takes!

The Sagamore’s requirements for writing an op-ed are that you are a Brookline High School student, have a subject that is relevant to the Brookline High School community and are willing to comply with our editing process.

In order to submit an op-ed, email your first draft to [email protected] along with the following information:

1. Name
2. Grade
3. Category of your article (satire, opinion, etc.)
4. Angle of your article (what is the main point that you are trying to convince people of?)
5. Contact info (phone number, email, etc.)

Below are some examples of exemplar editorials:
Opinion: Online school puts female students at a disadvantage
But where were you when Vicha Ratanapakdee was killed?
SATIRE: Humble Legacy Headed to Yale

If you have any further questions about contributing writing, feel free to send an email to [email protected]
