According to a statement by the School Committee, it has reached an agreement with the Brookline Educator’s Union in contract negotiations, specifically with teachers in the BEU’s Unit A. Read it below:

“The Brookline School Committee (BSC) is very pleased that after another mediation session with the Brookline Educators Union (BEU) that went into the early hours of Wednesday morning, the two parties signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to settle the contract negotiations with Brookline’s teachers in the BEU’s Unit A.

The agreement still needs to be ratified by the membership of the BEU and approved by the School Committee, but we hope that this agreement will allow everyone in the Public Schools of Brookline to continue building on the positive energy and collaborative spirit that has marked the beginning of this new school year.

We will continue to work with the mediator toward agreements for the remaining Unit B (Administrators) and Paraprofessional Unit. The next mediation session is scheduled for September 27.”

School faculty have been without a contract since a one-year bridge contract expired on August 31, 2015.

Stay tuned for more information about the contract proceedings.
