Ajao: “I came up with the idea of Dashiki Day because I wanted to bring the BHS community together. I’m new here and I’ve heard about a lot of the cool stuff that BHS used to do, so it’s an opportunity to bring it back. It’s Black History Month, I’m Black, and of course I always want to celebrate blackness. Especially in this time, because Black people are one of the most oppressed people in America. Today, I’m wearing a dashiki just to be in unity with everyone in the school and to show my culture: how colorful, how beautiful and how unifying it is.”
