Andres Polanco, freshman

“In kindergarten, I was Darth Vader, and that connected to me because back then I really liked Star Wars. My dad introduced me to it, and I thought it was really cool. That was my favorite movie series for a really long time. So in kindergarten, I had a whole Darth Vader costume and everything, and I still have the mask to this day, which is kind of cool because it reminds me of something when I was little.”

“The favorite I’ve ever worn—that would probably be Supergirl. Cape, boots, Supergirl S. I really liked it because it’s a classic and a superhero, so pretty simple, and I always liked to feel like I could be like her. She was a big inspiration when I was young.”

“A Grim Reaper because it was dark outside and I could see my eyes glowing. It was kind of the coolest part and all of us [my friends] were dressing up as the darkest figure possible. So I wanted to join along. It's a good way to connect with everybody, all dressing up as the same thing and going together.”

“When I was really little, me and my siblings would always fight over one dragon costume. We always wanted it. I got it a couple times, but it was a real battle.”
