On Tuesday, Brookline voters elected Michael Rubenstein to the Select Board over Liz Linder and Carlos Ridruejo.
In the crowded race for School Committee, which came amidst district-wide concerns about fiscal mismanagement and an 8-million-dollar budget deficit, former head of Brookline High School and Town Meeting member Bob Weintraub won his seat decisively, followed by incumbent Valerie Frias and newcomer Danna Perry, a Brookline parent.
Voters ousted incumbent Helen Charlupski, a veteran School Committee member and former chair with over 30 years on the committee.
Seats on the Board of Library Trustees, which saw competition for the first time in eight years after library staff turnover and ‘toxic’ workplace allegations, were won by incumbents Michael Burstein and Judith Vanderkay, as well as Batia Bloomenthal and Felina Silver. Joey Elasmar, the high school senior on the ballot, did not win a spot on the board.
9,520 total ballots were cast out of the 41,129 registered voters as of October, 2024. It was a slight decrease from the 9,640 who voted in the town election last May.
The Cypress is continuing to update this page as it receives results. The current results are unofficial, and can be found on the Town’s website.
