On a sunny 75 degree day there really is nothing better than a guilt-free, sweet treat. At 16 Handles, that is exactly what you will find – a variety of exotic frozen yogurts and over twenty different toppings ranging anywhere from sweet to salty and even fruity. 16 Handles, located right in the heart of Coolidge Corner on 1309 Beacon St, is a perfect place for teens, families, older adults and, of course, small children.
A unique aspect about 16 Handles is that for the 12 or so flavors offered, there is a small screen giving nutritional details, including calories, sugars, carbs and proteins. For someone who is looking to make a healthy choice, 16 Handles is definitely the way to go because you can count your calories as you go along making yourself your own little cup of heaven. Not only does each flavor have its own nutritional information, but each also has cool fun facts to go along with it! Who knew that the largest birthday cake was 15,032 pounds?
Some of the best flavors to try are “passion fruit tart” (perfect for the summer), “birthday cake”, “cookies n’ cream”, “salty caramel” and “peanutbutter”. Some of the less popular flavors include “eurotart”, which was somewhat bland, and “green apple sorbet”, which was too tart and sour. Overall, the flavors are really great and the toppings offered add a lot. On top of the traditional sprinkles, brownie bites, KIT KATs, and fresh fruits you can add on to your frozen yogurt, there are three new toppings: “Banana Foster Chips”, “Coney Island Crunch”, and “Brownie Butter Blondie”.
The employees are all very friendly and eager to greet you behind the counter with beaming smiles on their faces. It was a bit pricy for frozen yogurt, at about $4.50 for a small, but it was definitely worth it. 16 Handles has a fun atmosphere and is definitely eco-friendly in that it passes out unique, flexible, recyclable, colored spoons and sells 16 Handles bracelets for $2 to help save trees.
Overall, it’s a pretty awesome place to try out for the summer – highly recommended.
