Meet the 2024 fall captains: girls soccer

CONTRIBUTED BY ROCKY VANKOSKI

Anna Leschly – Junior
What are your goals for this season personally and as a team?
Individually, I want to grow into the role as captain and find my footing as a leader. I want to be able to be vocal on and off the field while forging relationships with underclassmen, becoming a mentor for them. Teamwise, we not only want to find success on the field and win, but also to create a sense of community and a sense of fluidity between all classes. Since we have a young team, bonding has been something we’ve prioritized this season, making sure everyone feels welcome.
What is a fun fact about you?
I am the youngest of 20 grandchildren in my family.

What got you into soccer?
I got into my sport because my dad had always loved soccer and forced me into it in first grade. I’ve loved it ever so since.
What are your goals for this season personally and as a team?
My personal goal is to be a good role model for the younger players and a goal for the team is to improve our chemistry and technicality.
What are you going to miss most about being on the team?
I am going to miss the community and social aspect most about this team. Especially since this may be my last year playing soccer competitively, I will miss the bond that comes from being on a team.
What is a fun fact about you?
I’m a barista.

What got you into soccer?
My sister was originally playing before me so when we moved to Brookline, I started playing on a little team and it grew into a bigger passion.
What are your goals for this season personally and as a team?
We want to have a good playoff run. We also want to focus on the journey to get there so we have focused a lot on bonding. When we are bonded as a team off the field, it really helps on the field.
What are you excited for about senior year?
I’m excited to go into senior year already having leadership experience and apply what I learn this year to excel next year.
What is a fun fact about you?
I was born in Chicago.

What got you into soccer?
It started with my older brother. He played soccer and I did everything he did so when he picked up a soccer ball, I did too.
What are your goals for this season personally and as a team?
Personally, we have a lot of freshmen, so I want to create an environment where they can talk to the upperclassmen and where there’s not a division between the classes. I want everyone to be close to each other regardless of age because it translates onto the field.
What is a fun fact about you?
I can solve a rubix cube.
